She attended Lexington School for the Deaf then studied Business Administration at RIT, leading to a 30-year career at the New York Life Insurance Company as a liaison between agents and underwriters. Dedicated to service and giving back, Dora volunteers her time with the Conference of Interpreter Trainers (CIT) via the awards, bylaws, and finance committees. Most recently, she pioneered the establishment of the 2023 RID Deaf-Parented Interpreter (DPI) Member Section Laurie Nash Scholarship.
