DIDIT Program
Deliberate Interpreter Development &Â Improvement Training
This 6-week workshop will accelerate the development of essential ASL interpreting skills through targeted practice, mindset training, and community engagement.Â
October 13th - November 20th, 2025
In this 6 week immersive program you will
engage in structured skill-building experiences designed to strengthen both the technical and professional sides of interpreting. Each week combines hands-on practice, guided discussions, and feedback-driven growth to ensure you leave with not only stronger interpreting abilities but also a clearer sense of direction in your professional journey.
This cycle of the DIDIT Program now offers two parallel learning tracks within the same community:
Ready to Grow: For students, recent graduates, and interpreters with little to no professional experience. This track focuses on core skills, foundational strategies, and confidence-building activities essential for entering the field with competence.
Ready to Go: For working interpreters seeking to refine their skills, prepare for credentialing exams, or improve agency screenings. This track emphasizes leadership, advanced interpreting techniques, and mentorship strategies — empowering participants to grow while guiding and modeling for others.
Once a week, both groups come together in integrated sessions, where “Go” participants mentor and model for “Grow” participants, fostering a dynamic environment of peer learning, professional networking, and real-world collaboration.
Whether you are developing a solid foundation or honing advanced skills, this course provides the tools, support, and community needed to fast-track your progress. With a strong emphasis on practice, mindset, and shared growth, participants will gain technical proficiency, leadership confidence, and the clarity to navigate their interpreting careers with purpose.
Target Audience:
Ready to Grow: Advanced ITP students, recent graduates, or new interpreters building foundational skills.
Ready to Go: Working interpreters pursuing certification, agency screening readiness, or leadership/mentorship development.

Weeks 1 & 2
The goal is to improve interpreters’ listening, retention, vocabulary use, and self-evaluation skills through structured exercises, live practice, feedback, and reflective discussions, with a focus on accuracy, adaptability, and continuous improvement in both English and ASL contexts.

Weeks 3 & 4
The goal is to enhance interpreters’ visualization and message retention skills, while fostering the ability to critically assess performance, give and receive constructive feedback, and apply insights for continuous improvement and greater interpreting accuracy.

Weeks 5 & 6
The goal is to equip interpreters with tools for ethical advocacy, effective self-care, and professional growth by fostering critical reflection, promoting balanced career practices, and emphasizing advocacy strategies that maintain neutrality and support client access.
