Cracking the Shell of Whiteness Self-Paced
This self-paced course (0.5 PPO RID CEUs) creates a supportive space for white interpreters committed to becoming effective allies in dismantling racism and addressing white privilege that impact BIPOC Deaf consumers and their communities. Participants will engage in a reflective process designed to empower them at every stage of their journey. While this course focuses on white interpreters learning together, it emphasizes the importance of collaboration and partnership with BIPOC Deaf members. The goal is to cultivate allies who can contribute meaningfully to social transformation across racial, social, and disability justice lines.

White Fragility Self-Paced
This self-paced course (0.5 PPO RID CEUs) is based on Robin DiAngelo's insights from her bestselling book "White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism", explores the concept of "White Fragility"โthe defensive reactions white individuals exhibit when their racial assumptions are questioned. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how these reactions perpetuate racial inequality. The course will further guide interpreters through self-reflection on their roles in reinforcing systemic racism and provide actionable strategies for engaging in meaningful conversations with BIPOC Deaf consumers and Interpreters. (It is your responsibility to read this book as part of this course. We will provide a reading guide in the modules, but you need to acquire this book on your own, whether by borrowing from your local library, purchasing from your favorite local bookseller or from Amazon.)

January LIVE Webinar - Thursday the 29th
his webinar of Black Deaf and Hearing Interpreter panelist delves into the critical importance of recognizing and honoring the spaces belonging to Black Deaf and/or Black Interpreter communities, particularly in relation to language use, sign choice, and cultural expression. The panelist will explore the dynamics of power, privilege, cultural appropriation, and the complexities of communication within Black Deaf/Interpreter spaces especially on social media platforms.
