Workshops, trainings, and private online courses now available!
“Taking the [Antiracist Skills Workshop] was an eye-opener! and the impact has been fantastic. This workshop has been the catalyst for many ‘a-ha’ moments. People who understood bias exists in a very logical way, were able to see, through the conversation with peers about the very relevant scenarios, and connect emotionally with the impact bias has on the colleagues they respect and interact with daily.” - Anonymous Participant
Diversity Academy for Interpreters is now offering an Antiracist Skills workshop specifically designed for Interpreters, facilitated by our BIPOC Deaf community and our white allies committed to antiracist work.
Your workshop can be two hours or four hours. After a 30-minute introduction, most of the workshop is spent discussing real-world interpreting scenarios in which an antiracist can learn to take action in small groups. At the end of the workshop, each group shares their solutions in a group report led by the facilitators. Participants learn several antiracist skills by practicing them during live zoom discussion groups: listening, amplifying voices, apologizing and correcting themselves, and more. The workshop ends with each participant setting a specific goal for their future antiracist work. The workshop format and content are the same whether taught online or in person*.
*Due to COVID, all workshops are virtual until further notice.

All of the workshop materials are freely reusable, modifiable, and redistributable under the DAI License user agreement.
They are based on the several
previous trainings/workshops DAI has conducted with and/or partnered with CAITE such as
Cracking the Shell of Whiteness course or Dear White Interpreter BHI workshops, originally designed to teach white interpreters how to support and recognize their work with DPOC or how to recognize and support ITOC too. The scenarios can also be customized specifically for each client as part of the workshop fee.

We are also offering a private online course option. The online course is a minimum of 4 hours total, with a weekly one hour live Zoom session. The kind of workshop is most effective when led by facilitators with first-hand experience working in a similar field to that of the participants. Several of our facilitators have experience doing antiracist work and have co-facilitated with several of our DAI courses.
We recommend that we co-facilitate the online course in order to provide more personal one-to-one individualized attention in small groups. We suggest an additional facilitator for every 15 people. We will match you with the best facilitator for your organization.
